PackIt is the first freezable personal cooler that keeps anything you pack colder, longer: for up to ten hours. The Mini Cooler is the smaller version of the classic Personal Cooler and measures 8 by 8 by 3-inch. Its compact size allows the Mini Cooler to easily fit into bookbags, backpacks or briefcases. It is perfectly sized for a whole sandwich, snacks, or sliced fruit or cheese. All PackIt coolers have a patented eco-gel built permanently into the liner, eliminating the need for melting ice or bulky gel packs completely. Have you seen the school lunch menu? Yuck. It's quite sturdy and is lead-free, PVC free etc. That was one of the things most important to us. The design is quite cute. The material is very easy to clean, dish soap and water. It's very roomy inside so there is room for tons of food, snacks, and even the bulkier reusable type bottles and jars as well. Definitely a worth-while purchase. This review is from: Wildkin Olive Kids Robots Lunch Box (Kitchen) The first thing I noticed when I received this lunch box is how durable it is. The zippers are heavy duty, as is the canvas outer. Definitely more durable than the character lunch box my son had for kindergarten last year. It's also very roomy, with an elastic band to hold water bottles so they don't squish whatever else you have in there. We took it on a picnic with us and it easily held two water bottles, a large apple, two sandwiches and a baggie of cheerios. There's a mesh pocket on the inside of the lid where you could put an ice pack, as well as an outside pocket. The outside pocket is pretty flat, so I don't know what you could put in there, except maybe a little note or something. All in all, I expect this lunch box to last my son a long time; it is very durable and large enough to accomodate his growing appetite. The handy inside pocket holds a cold pack and the box's insulation does a good job of keeping things cool (or warm) for an extended period. The interior and exterior clean up easily with just a soapy sponge. The zipper has endured about a thousand openings and closings (rough, 3-year-old style) and doesn't look like it will be quitting anytime soon. A good buy. Does exactly what it suppose to do and keep whatever you put in it cold. At first I was using those re-freezable pouches. No good with this cooler for keep bottles or cans cold all day long. They just didn't work. As soon as I changed over using real ice cubes, it all changed. I use my cooler for work to keep a quart of water cold and a few cans of soda and juice cold through out the day. The cooler is kept in the back of my SUV. I have to report that even after 8 hours of sitting in my truck, there is still some ice cubes left and whatever is left to drink is icy cold. The top has a quick opening partion with extra heavy duty velcro which is great also. saves time so you don't have to unzip the two zippers to open the top. I put fresh fruit and whatever else in there I want to keep cold. I see this cooler being ideal for keeping cans of beer or soda... I don't particularly like the handle design (it tends to slip and become too long if you don't grab it right) and the wide rounded-front makes it akward to balance and carry level. The good thing is that the extra width allows cans of sode to line up and still fit ice in front of them instead of on top. Overall, though, I prefer a 12-can design that is narrower and higher for bringing most things to work for lunch. Ice melts rapidly and it compares poorly with hard side small coolers I own from Thermos and Igloo. I also own a Polar Bear soft cooler with much better insulation and cold retention capabilities, though it was more expensive.
